The Current Genesis Presidency was set apart by President Merill J. Bateman of the First Quorum of the Seventy on August 3, 2003.
President: Don Harwell was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, except for two years when he lived in New Orleans, Louisiana with his mother and twin brother. He attended California State University at Los Angeles, is a NAUI and PADI Certified SCUBA Instructor, and a competitive USTA trapshooter. He is a retired VP of Sales for an electronics company, but he keeps busy as a volunteer Peer Group leader with Adult Probation and Parole. He was baptized in 1983 in the Salt Lake City Ensign Stake and has been serving as the Genesis Group President since August 2003. In addition, he and his wife, Jerri A. (Hale) Harwell (from Detroit, Michigan), are serving a long term, two-year Church service mission at IMC in Murray, Utah; were married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1987; and have six children (five living).
First Counselor: Eddie Gist has been serving in the presidency since August 2003. He was born in Detroit, Michigan but grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He attended Appalachian State University and works in the Grocery business. He was baptized in September of 1997 in Fayette, New York in the Rochester Palmyra New York Stake. He serves on the High Council of the Midvale East Stake. Eddie has been coaching wrestling at Hillcrest High School since 1993. Eddie is married to Heather (Ferguson) Gist, they have three children and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1998.
Second Counselor: Wain Myers is a native of Dayton, Ohio. He graduated summa cum laude from Independence University with a BS in computer science. He is the author of the best-selling book; From Baptist Preacher to Mormon Teacher. Wain was a member of the United States Army and served in Bad Kissingen, Germany. There he received his call to the ministry. After his military career, Wain returned to the U.S. and began preaching at True Vine Missionary Baptist church, where he preached for over five years. He was introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in June of 1995 by his lovely wife Sebrina. Wain and Sebrina are the proud parents of seven children; LeRoy Jr., Isaiah; who served his mission in the Baton Rouge Louisiana mission 2012-2014, Bradford, Quesley, Braxton, Spencer who is currently serving in The Ghana Accra mission, and Ammon. Wain is a firm believer that you bring about what you think about.
